The company, Rudolf Walter u. Co. Holzblasinstrumentenbau GmbH, was founded in Ludwigsburg in 1992. Since 1995, the bassoons have been constructed on the new premises in Pleidelsheim.

Through the friendship which has grown over the decades between the companies Rudolf Walter (Pleidelsheim) and Guntram Wolf (Kronach), the wish emerged already several years ago to create a bassoon together - originally with the late Guntram Wolf.
